The 48HFP Melbourne 2011 Best FIlm will be screened at Filmapalooza, the international 48HFP Awards Weekend held at the Taos International Film Festival in the United States. The 10 best films from the Filmapalooza will be screened at The Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Fesival in 2012!

Audience Awards
All films - on time or late - are eligible for the Audience Award voted at the initial screenings on 4th-6th November. So bring your friends, bring your family, present your film and let them vote for you!
48HFP Melbourne 2011 Best Film
A panel of judges will select the '48HFP Melbourne 2011 Best Film'.
In the past, these judges have included film critics Peter Krausz (3CR), producer Sue Maslin (Japanese Story), actors Simon Lyndon (Chopper), and film guru Richard Sowada (ACMI Head of Film).
Judging criteria
Judging will be based on Artistic Merit (e.g. Story, Creativity, Entertainment Value) (45%) Technical Merit (30%)Adherence to the Assignment (25%)
Judges

Peter Krausz – Film Critic
Peter Krausz is Chair of the Australian Film Critics Association and member of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics). He runs a weekly film program on Melbourne radio 3CR (Saturdays at 11am, Media Moves Cinema Scene), is film consultant for the annual Festival of German Films for the Goethe Institute, hosts many film Q & As for various cinemas and distributors, and appears twice weekly on 3KND, and occasionally on ABC radio and ABC2. He has written many film articles for Independent Education, Metro, and Australian Screen Education, is a judge on many film award juries including with the AFI and FIPRESCI, and contributed to the publication: 100 Greatest Films of Australian Cinema.

Grant Scicluna – Director
Grant is the award-winning writer and director of several short films, including ‘Neon Skin’, and the AFC funded ‘Fast Lane’. His films have won awards at International festivals including Berlin, Sydney Film Festival, ATOM Awards, Port Shorts and Kaleidoscope and his short film script ‘Rabbit’ was nominated for a AWGIE award. In 2007, Grant was selected as part of Melbourne International Film Festival’s Accelerator Program for emerging talent and recently completed an internship with Bruce Beresford on the 2009 Australian box office phenomenon ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’. Grant is working on his first feature ‘Scratch The Surface’, has just shot a short comedy called ‘Colin The Dog’s Fabulous Midnight Adventure’ and has Directed a Film Victoria funded drama ‘Golden Girl’ in 2011.

Christopher Kirby – Actor
Chris Kirby has had roles in some pretty impressive Film and TV Credits including: Strange Bedfellows, The Matrix Revolutions, The Matrix Reloaded, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, I Love You Too, Mao's Last Dancer, Macbeth, Heroes of the Pacific, The Saddle Club, Crackerjack, Marshall Law, Ponderosa, Queen of the Damned and Ocean Girl. More recently he is in three films to be released next year Iron Sky, Movie 43 and Frank and Jerry.

Rob Lobosco – Producer
Rob Lobosco graduated from Bachelor of Health Sciences-TCM/Professional Writing from Victoria University in 1997. Also, he attended William Bates Academy of performing. Since completing his Performing Arts course, Rob has had various roles in TV- Halifax FP, Frontline, Blue Heeler’s and Neighbours. In 2011 Rob, alongside Producer Cameron Miller, Produced his Feature Film “Groomless Bride.” This will be released in 2012.
Rob is currently working on the development of his feature films, “Holy Kate,” “Dress To Hide,”“The Long Drive,” & the much anticiapated film about love, “Disconnected.” Rob Lobosco was awarded 2009 Australian Achiver Award – Higley recommended for the category of Health & Fitness for his work with his Education plays and work in the health and fitness industry.
